Expertly Crafted Solid Oak Balconies

Have you ever enjoyed a balcony during a hotel stay? If so, you know how it can enhance the experience. From enjoying morning coffee with a view, to unwinding under the stars, balconies offer a slice of outdoor paradise just steps from your room. It’s no wonder that many dream of having their own balcony at home. A place to bring that same sense of luxury and relaxation to our daily lives.

Introducing our bespoke solid oak framed balconies. Can you envision a balcony outside your master bedroom to enjoy alfresco breakfast? Maybe a serene spot next to your home office for a fresh air break when work calls get stressful? Perhaps your upstairs living space warrants a space to entertain friends? Whatever the purpose, you can assemble one onto any upper-floor room, leaving you with a sanctuary that blends indoor comfort with the great outdoors.

We make each balcony from scratch. This bespoke approach allows for seamless integration into your home. Pick the balcony clearance to align the floors. Choose the size to match your house configuration. Whatever the size, however big or small, we can make a balcony for you.

Oak balconies are more than useful though. Our oak balconies are a striking luxurious feature teeming with grandeur. It starts with our exclusive use of high-grade sustainable European Oak. Experts categorise oak into a grading system. We only use QPA and QP1. These grades are the two highest as set by industry standards. This selective approach makes sure your oak balcony is without imperfections such as rot and unsound knots.

Using the best oak is just the start. From the finest construction oak, our skilled in-house artisans craft your balcony with full use of their 100-plus years of woodwork experience. They’ll cut, plane and sand every section, leaving the oak smooth to the touch. The connection of posts and beams in the process relies on traditional joinery methods, which demand a high level of skill. With complete joinery, the balcony is then ready for assembly.

We don’t stop there to ensure the best. Quality control is paramount to us. We conduct a test assembly on-site at our UK Hixon base to make sure we have precise measurements and immaculate joinery. At this stage, we also label parts, so assembly is straightforward. With the thorough check complete, we’ll disassemble the balcony and pack it into a kit. Hey presto, it’s ready for delivery.

How To Use The 3D Oak Balcony Designer

Designing an oak balcony sounds daunting, after all, there are intricate parts that make up the impressive structure. However, our Online 3D Oak Balcony Designer makes it easy. Use the drop-down menus and adjust the controls to meet your requirements. It's as simple as that. As you make changes, the price updates in real-time, so you can stay within your budget. Here’s a guide to each control and how it’ll change the balcony.

Size

You can change sizes by 0.1 metres (10 centimetres) to achieve the perfect fit. The first step is to select the Depth, which can range from 2.5 metres to 4 metres. You can then alter the Length of the balcony. As you change the length, the designer will add the required number of supporting beams for structural integrity. In a similar fashion, the designer automatically adds balustrades according to the dimensions. Clearance relates to height, which you can pick to meet existing upper room floors from 2 metres to 2.5 metres. When measuring, consider that the clearance is the size of upright posts and doesn't include the height of balustrades. Reach out to us for any dimensions beyond the designer's capabilities.

Thickness

Post Thickness refers to the size of the cross-section of posts and beams, and you have two choices: 175mm or 200mm. The thickness is mainly down to your preferred visual style and doesn't affect stability. Generally, some customers opt for thinner posts for a modern presence, while thicker ones give a more traditional vibe. Pick the thickness that best suits your style.

Footings

In this category, you can select whether you would like your posts an extra 600mm into ground or supplied with CPT Post Bases.

Stairs

Stairs offer an alternative way to access the balcony. If the balcony is accessible from an upstairs room, you may not want stairs. In this case, select No Stairs. However, should you want stairs, we'll craft them using the same high-quality materials to fit with the balcony. You can opt to have the stairs on the left or right depending on your preferred access point. Pick Stairs Left or Stairs Right.

How To Order Your Oak Framed Balcony

Ordering from Oak Timber Structures is straightforward. Nevertheless, our team is on hand to help throughout the process. Here are the simple steps to order a bespoke oak balcony:

  1. First, create the balcony using the designer or send drawings to contact@oaktimberstructures.co.uk.
  2. For online orders, click ‘Add to Basket’.
  3. Navigate to your shopping basket where you can checkout securely online. We accept all major credit cards excluding American Express (as image). If you run into any checkout issues, please contact us using the online chat or call us and we’ll talk you through the process. Alternatively, you can order over the phone.
  4. We then produce technical drawings for you to sign off and gain approval from a structural engineer if needed. CAD drawings take between 2-3 working days to produce.
  5. If you are unhappy with an aspect of the drawings, we encourage you to call and seek advice from our helpful and friendly staff. They’ll revise the drawings accordingly and send them back to you for re-approval.
  6. Once signed off, we add your structure to the production queue and create it according to the stated lead times. During this time, many people use the approved drawings to get their groundwork in place if required.
  7. Our skilled team assembles the oak balcony to make sure there are no issues. This also allows us to code all components for seamless assembly. We then dismantle the balcony and organise it into transportable kit form.
  8. If you're running behind schedule, we're happy to store your structure for up to 4 weeks at no extra charge. Please note that we limit storage to 4 weeks. As green oak dries, it shrinks. Shrinkage is normal. In fact, our skilled staff prepares your structure for shrinkage to fuse joints, making them tighter and more robust. Yet, after 4 weeks, joints can become misaligned and harder to assemble, so it's important to limit storage time.
  9. We schedule delivery by liaising with you once your bespoke oak-framed balcony is complete.
